Race Day!

Well as per every other posting I am behind. We have been SO busy, but I am hoping it will calm down soon. Josh and I poured our last cement yesterday for the fence, so we are very close to being done!

Two weekends ago I was talked into going to the races. My dad picks out a handful every year to go to, mom and I almost always stay home. Its not like we have never been before. I grew up going to the track every weekend, or going to Nanan's and Pappy's so he could go. My kids however are new to the experience and as soon as there is race talk Hayden is driving me NUTS!

Friday night mom and I bit the bullet and not only decided to go but spend the night! The kids were in HEAVEN!

All started out great. Hayden had a million favorite cars.....

But Velvet has only one! This pink car was her highlight! The lady was very nice and let V sit in her car.

This is a guy I went to school with in 9th grade (Ryan Gerig). Always nice to see people you know.

The first day was beautiful, the second...I was rained on in my tent!

The day finally picked up around noon and they were able to race. The kids loved it....Velvet Hated the noise!

I'm so glad the kids talked us into going....On dads second pass the car broke and slammed him into the wall. The door flew open at the impact and dragged his upper body on the ground. He was very lucky. It could have been so much worse. When I got to the end of the track and the ambulance was there he was making sure that his car would be well taken care of. I knew he would be fine.

After a quick trip to the ER in Salem we were patched up, stitched up, and on are way back to be the spectators. We still spent the night and had a good time. In the future I will be passing all hospitals and going to Salem! They are awesome! I have spent some time at a few ER's and they are by far the best I have seen.

No room for mom and I on the way back! We had to ride in the back of the car.

Here is dads car....He is already talking about all he is going to do, parts to find, things to fix. At 70 you would think he would calm down a bit, but not a chance. He had it just how he liked it. You know it could have had a new paint job and all the bells and whistles, but this is what it looked like when he drove it to high school, so this is how it was staying he always says! It was his first car so he is very sentimental.

Wish us luck! Another race in 2 weeks, another car! Mom and I will be going I'm sure. We will also be getting dad a helmet. Micheal asked him the day before about getting a helmet to go, his reply was that car only goes 13's its not fast enough to need one! MEN.
